ohhhh white space how I love you… or wait… ohhhhh blue space how I love you! Uhm… just doesn’t have the same ring to it, eh? To my graphic designer friends out there… What would you call it if it’s not “white space”… “negative space”? I think technically negative space is when the space surrounding an object forms a shape… right?  You know… like the hidden arrow in the FedEx logo 🙂 So, help me out here… what is the “blue space” in this image called????

We shot these photos where Kellie and Eric work out.  It’s within walking distance of her apartment… and it’s such a gorgeous setting! However, I do have to say the people who run here are freaking INTENSE! As in… if you’re not paying attention… runners will knock you down and trample you to death. Okay, I’m exaggerating… but only a littttttle bit.

I’m SO in love with this photo. 

I posted this photo as a teaser (like I always do) on our Facebook biz page… where Ryan (a past groomsman) wrote, “…more like kellie+epic!” Eric saw that and replied, “Thanks for the new nickname: ‘Epic.’ I’m asking Kellie to call me that from now on.” So, how’s that going for you Epic??? 😀 My favorite ❗

When Kellie first moved to Chicago she bought a bike from Target… you know, a cheapie, so that no one would steal it. Cheap or not… it didn’t work, it was stolen. So, they bought vintage used bikes and had them fixed up at a local bike shop… GOOD AS NEW! 😀 Now, they can practically leave them unchained and no one even touches them! GEEENIUS!

Kellie played soccer for almost her entire life… so when I saw this game happening I asked them to step in front of it so that it could be in the background. Yeah, I’m creative. 😉 As soon as they went down there the ball went out of bounds and Eric was about to have his soccer moment of glory… UNTIL that girl in neon green smashed his hopes and dreams… DEEENIED! Maybe you had to be there… it was hilarious, I promise. 🙂

Oh, to the photogs out there… doesn’t Eric look a wee bit like Justin Lyon???

After about 10 minutes of shooting here, transit authority informed us that photography was not allowed and asked us to leave.  Sometimes I’m convinced that I look like a terrorist. You know… of the Cabbage Patch variety. So Chicago photo friends, just an FYI… the “L” stands for “off Limits to photographers” 🙂

I was thinking of the next thing we were going to do when I realized that I was standing there in quite the pose… I turned my head and said something like… “Oh! I didn’t even notice I was posing like this… sexy just comes so naturally to me that I clearly can’t control it!” Of course my husband took a photo. 🙂

Here it is… Deedee’s and Kevin’s wedding day 😀

The morning of the wedding Kevin gave her a poem as a gift… I guess that’s a little out of character for him… as he claims not to be much of a poet. Well, Deedee loves ALLLL things poetry and music… so, Kevin dusted off his fancy pen and went to work. Deedee was absolutely 100% in love with it. Kevin, good work!

Yes, they are as nice as they seem. Deedee looks so much like some of the women on my dad’s side of the family. Fair skin, dimples, dark hair, blue eyes and freckles. If I didn’t have a round face and a freakishly small nose… Deedee and I could pass as sisters. 🙂

What was the most memorable moment of your day?
There were many! I think one that stands out for both of us is when we opened our gifts to each other.
deedee: Walking with my dad from the house… approaching the ceremony site and seeing everyone seated… and then as soon as I turned to walk down the aisle I saw Kevin and I could feel myself starting to cry and my emotions took over.
kevin: For me it would have to be seeing DeeDee and her dad walk out of the house, after having waited and cooled my heels for what seemed like an eternity.

What was your favorite detail?
kevin: The ceremony music. I really thought the string quartet did an amazing job. I thought it was just a
bout perfect, especially the processional that DeeDee walked to. It was a piece that we both really related to, and hearing it played while she walked down the aisle to meet me was incredible.

Any advice for future bride/grooms?
It’s hard, but just try to stay in the moment and file everything away for mental processing later, cause it will go by in a flash.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?
An unprintable comment from Bobbi. HA! no comment… 😉

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went to northern California. Our first stop was San Francisco, and then we went up the coast to Forestville where we stayed in an incredible spa / B&B. Kevin planned the whole trip! We went to some wineries, drove to the coast, kayaked in the Russian River, went on a bike ride on the busy roads of Napa, relaxed, and ate incredible food.

 

I know you guys thought I was crazy when I said that Deedee and I look similar… but look at this photo 😀 Add some round chubby cheeks to Deedee and give me some black hair… SEEEEE IT NOW?!!?! Told ya 😉

our favorites: 1) Watching Deedee open her gift from Kevin. 2) the limo ride over to the ceremony. 2) The moment with Deedee and her mom right before the ceremony. 3) I adoooooored Deedee’s dad. 4) the entire ceremony… absolutely perfection! 5) Right after the walked back down the aisle… they were alone… Kevin got a bit emotional but he got it together really quickly… it was so incredibly sweet. 6) Photographing just the two of them… the sun was setting and I was in high speed mode… and they were IN IT TO WIN IT 😉 (that was just for you Deedee 😀 ) 8. Seeing Heather and Brian at the reception… Heather was lookin’ HOT MOMMA in that dress! 😀 😀 😀 9) The DJ played “Burning Down the House” by the Talking Heads… it’s one of my favorite songs… I busted out my best dance moves 😀 Why isn’t that song played at EVERY reception?! 10) I LOVED this day of wedding coordinator… WHY OH WHY does she have to live so far away?!

Thanks for treating us like long time friends… it was such a great weekend!

Remember Heather and Brian? Of COURSE you do! They got married in Mexico nearly two years ago. Yeahhhh… it’s alll coming back to you now 😀 Well, now they are no longer just Heather and Brian… now… we have a +Madison 🙂

While I was taking the photo on the left… Mike was taking the photo on the right. They really were taken within just a few minutes of each other. 🙂 It seems Bear is still learning to share. Bad news Bear… I’m still learning… it’s the curse of an only child! In the army they called me “Share-NUDDIN’!” You know… instead of “Sheridan” 😉

Remember the engagement session we did of Deedee and Kevin in Washington, D.C? Well… Deedee was one of Heather’s bridesmaids… and THAT was how Deedee found us 🙂 While we were in the area… Brian had asked us photo the new family 🙂

So, the shirt I packed to wear this day had a HUGE hole in it when I put it on… so, I had to wear my back up. Now, if you’re an experienced photographer… you know that whatever color shirt you’re wearing… the light will bounce off of you and onto your subjects skin… ESPECIALLY if it’s a brightly colored HOT PINK shirt. D’OH!

So how did I fix it?  I wore one of Madison’s neutral colored blankets over my shirt 🙂 GEEEEENIUS!

Fact: I look scary when I talk to babies… 😀
