It’s official… 78% of people said yes to an extension 😀 I’m newly motivated, aren’t you?!!!?!

NEW END DATE: December 10th.  That’s 8 more weeks! A LOT can happen in 8 weeks 😀 LET’S DO THIS!!!!!!

An update… as of last week, I’d lost two of the four pounds that I’d gained while traveling… and this week I’ve maintained 😀 For me, when it’s busy busy busy go go go… I feel like I’ve succeeded in just maintaining. So, whatever…. YAHOOOOOOOSKI! 😀

However, over the next few weeks… things are going to slow down a bit for me…. which is fantastic news. NO MORE EXCUSES OUTTA ME!!!!!  My goal for the next 8 weeks? 10 lbs. That’s pretty bold for me as I lose weight pretty slowly… but, I’m certainly going to try!

Remember a month ago I wrote about my goals? Well, here’s an update:

 

Gain more personal time/enjoy more “me” time:

• Work aggressively during “work time” so that I’m able to have an evening off SUCCESS!!!!! Boy oh boy have I been working aggressively during “work time”… so aggressive in fact that I’m a bit brain dead at the end of the day… it takes me a bit to snap out of work mode. Nothing that a glass of wine can’t fix! 😉
• Fill in an Excel time sheet for work so that I’m able to track what’s taking me so stinking long SUCCESS!!!!! A blog reader (Thanks Jo-Ann Kyle!) suggested a program called RescueTime after reading that post… it’s absolutely changed my life! I work harder, I work more efficiently, I don’t get distracted as easily, etc. If you’re self employed and want to know how you’re spending your time/get yourself focused… I HIGHLY suggest it!
• Back off of the social media I may have backed off a little too much… I’m feeling very out of the loop lately and no one ever knows what’s going on with me… I’ll need to find balance in this. Though, too little is a whole lot better than too much!
• Go to bed at the same time as my husband SUCCESS!!!!
• During personal time, computers are off and phones are put away SUCCESS!!!! Though the last couple of weeks haven’t had much personal time as I’ve been in 100% work mode to get everything done before Christmas deadlines… The little bit of time we do make is fully ours. Every night before we go to bed, we play a board game… Yeah yeah, sounds lame, I know… but, for us, it’s the best way to take ourselves out of work mode and into husband/wife mode. For you husband & wife photo teams out there, try it… 🙂
  
• Say no 😉 I HAAAAAAATE doing this… as I’ve had to say no to some of my favorite clients/friends. We’re in the process of slightly modifying our business so that we won’t have to say no as much and still hold onto our sanity. More on this later 🙂 CLIFFHANGER!!!!

Feel good about myself again:

• Work out in the morning at least 4 days/week I’d call this only half successful… I worked 3 times last week and only 2 times this week. WORKING ON IT!!!!
• Get ready in the morning… as though I’m going to a “real job” SUCCESS!!!! This has REALLY improved my daily confidence.
• Drink more water Fail… Need to put my CamelBak back to work!
• Eat healthy dinners… no going out to eat! SUCCESS!!!!!
• Get a facial/massage Fail… 🙁 Soon though, SOON!

 

So, yes, overall… I’d call allllll of this a pretty big improvement 😀 Still have some things I need to work on… but, don’t we always?!

Okay, enough babbling outta me!

Blog readers, you guys have no stinking clue how much I adore you and appreciate you… you’ve been the best cheering squad. Thanks for being supportive, patient, understanding, motivating and most of all… you’ve helped keep me focused on the positive. Thank you.

I always *try* to put up a photo with every blog entry… but I don’t always have one. Because I didn’t put one up last time, I feel like I had better come up with SOMEthing for this one. Not my best photo… but it sure does show you me. 😀 Brian took this with my camera about a month ago in D.C. when I was showing him the amazingness that is the perspective of the 35mm 1.4. So, of course I got really close to the camera to give the full effect.

OHHHHH MAN OH MANNNNNN I’ve been SO excited to blog this wedding 😀 I freaking ADORE Jayne and Dac! You see, Jayne’s family holds a special little spot in my world. Two and a half years ago we photographed Jayne’s sisters wedding (katie+henry | may, 2008)… and I knew, just KNEW that when Jayne got engaged, that we’d be her photographers. 🙂 Overly confident? Maybe… but, it seems my confidence is clearly justified. 😉

When I showed up and saw THIS dress, my heart skipped a beat… that bow?! PERFECTION! These are my favorite kinds of dresses… simple, a-line, flirty, silk taffeta/faille with just one perfect detail that makes it unique… in this case… THE BOW!!!!!

Jayne and Dac had a lock and key themed wedding… it was incorporated into every detail… and it couldn’t have been more awesome. Here are Dac’s cuff links 😀

Wow, I’ve gone a little “morning of” details crazy on this blog entry! Can you blame me?!  By the way, to our couples… I’m the one who usually photographs the rings, annnnd, I usually try and do it while the girls are getting ready… so if it’s possible, please have the rings with the bride on the morning of your wedding 😀 Please and thank you! 😀

When I heard that the wedding colors were going to be orange and ORANGE… I about DIED! Okay, I’m being dramatic again… but does it GET anymore BBMK than this?!!?! NO! I’m in LOVE! I’ve seen orange weddings in bridal magazines before, but none of them compare… this orange was done PERFECTLY!

And these bridesmaid dresses??? FAVORITE EVERRRRR! A small confession: I, as a woman with large …ahem… coconuts, breathe a sigh of relief when I see non-strapless dresses done well (which isn’t common) 🙂 For those that don’t have this problem, strapless dresses are nearly impossible for us to wear. Finding the undergarments ALONE is an impossible task… let alone trying to keep the thing up all night! Lula Kate, HIGH FREAKIN’ FIVES TO YOU!!!!

Whoever put thing on your head OH SO perfectly deserves hugs, high fives and chocolate chip cookies (with really cold milk)… but then again… maybe just  MAYBE that person is on the healthy train and shouldn’t be eating cookies… however, hugs and high fives are still warranted. 😉 Just sayin’.

Dac is one of the nicest guys we’ve ever met. I watched him have a full conversation with someone on the catering staff… as though she was the most important person there… he did this with every person he talked with that day, including us. Now, I’m not saying that the catering staff is unimportant, but, it was during cocktail hour… you know… when all of your friends and family are vying for your attention. I guess what I’m trying to say is, in the short time I spent with Dac, I think he’s the type of guy who would treat the President of the United States the same as the clerk at the BMV (or DMV) office. I can’t think of many others who fit into that category. I can think of two… Dac and Mike. :D

What was the most memorable moment of your day?
jayne: Right before I walked down the aisle. It was a very special moment with my bridesmaids, my sister, my dad, and also my mom. Somebody grabbed her and she came back and we got to have a  moment together. That meant a lot to me because I got to walk down the aisle with my dad, but I really wanted to be able to share that with my mom too. She and I had so much fun wedding planning together! 
dac: Seeing Jayne come through the doors at the front of the church with her veil on.

What was your favorite detail?
jayne: This is a super tough one. I LOVED picking out the details. I’d probably say our favors. We hand stamped white Fossil tins. It was a really special thing for Dac and I to do together, since we both work at Fossil and met there. Close second would be the escort cards! 
dac: My key and lock cuff links.

Any advice for future bride/grooms?
jayne: Think twice about using small confetti… we used biodegradable confetti for our church exit, and Bobbi spent quite a bit of time picking it all out of my hair before pictures! It was fun while it was happening though. 🙂  (Jayne, in my OH SO humble opinion, totally worth the small annoyance… the photos with it are freaking awwwwesome!)
dac: If you get married during football season schedule the wedding on a bye week for your particular team, otherwise you’ll have a lot of people looking at their phones all day.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?
jayne: When the priest was asking Dac to repeat after him and the priest mistakenly said “take Jayne to be my lawful wedded husband… er, lawful wedded wife” and Dac jokingly repeated him word for word, just as he was told. He now has a husband AND a wife… 
dac: Calling out bridesmaids during the ceremony for sitting down before I did (they were supposed to wait to sit until I sat).

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
jayne: I forgot to do something borrowed and something old… Whoops! But, I didn’t even realize it until the next day, so clearly the day was still completely perfect without them.

What was your favorite wedding purchase?
jayne: I have to go with the obvious one – my dress. It was special because my mom was with me, and it was the very first dress I tried on! It was just totally ME. The back was my favorite. 🙂

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Secrets Maroma Beach in Cancun… it was AMAZING! We ha
d so much fun just hanging out together and frolicking on the beach… and eating as much free food as possible. 🙂

 

I know this photo with the bride and groom is our tradition… but it shows how much of a hot mess Mike and I are at the end of the day! So please, judgment free zone, k? k. 😀

Testing the light for family portraits.  See that hair above my ears that’s sticking out? Mike calls them my “bozos.”  I call them “wings.” Whatever they are… they’ve been there my entire life and won’t ever grow. Now you see why I’m always wearing clips on the side of my head… because if not contained, they’re kind of intense… I really do, in fact, look like Bozo. 🙂

I wanted her to put the veil back on for photos… but ran out of time at the church. So, I brought it with us. What do you do when you’re a wedding photographer whose hands are full and you don’t want to wrinkle the perfectly shaped veil? You put it on your own head. I honestly forgot I was wearing it until I saw these photos. Sorry I’m so pretty. Oh, and yes… your eyes are not deceiving you… I sat in the mud 🙂 OHHH the things we do for our clients. 😀 Totally worth it though. If I hadn’t, the amazingness that was the “train of love” photo wouldn’t have happened. See?! Worth it. 🙂
