We love photographing families… especially when they’re as awesome as this family is. 🙂

I always try to snap a quick pic of all of our sessions with my iPhone for Instagram… This little set up was the one I chose. 🙂 Click for the Instagram version.  My favorite ❗I mean really… how fun does this family look?!  Mike’s favorite. ❓
Look up the word “delightful” in the dictionary you’ll find a photo of these sisters. No lie!…this families first ever session. REEEEALLY?! You’d think they had done it 100 times before! This team was so great and fun to photograph.
LOVE THIS FAMILY!Karyn came to one of our very first photography workshops and I’ve adored her ever since. 🙂I loved all of their outfits. 🙂
Sometimes when we’re photographing families I just know in that very instant, with 100% certainty, that that image I captured is going to be hanging in these sister’s houses for the rest of their lives.  That was my thought at this exact moment. 🙂 I’m so crazy about this image.  Karyn, you’re a beautiful momma. SO beautiful! Another favorite ❗Oh man oh mannnn… that image on the left?! I’M IN LOOOOOVE WITH IT!

karyn+darrel  ::  married 14 years • 12.19.98

How they met, as told by Karyn  ::  We met orientation weekend Darrell’s freshman year in college (my sophomore year) through mutual friends. While we were friends during school, we didn’t start dating until after graduation. He moved to England and I moved to Seattle and soon after an email courtship began. A summer spent touring Europe together confirmed our compatibility and we moved back to the Midwest to begin planning our wedding.

Karyn ::  hometown – Cambridge, Ohio.  ::  pastry maker and picture taker  ::  five words –  talented, visual, sensible, meticulous, surprising

Darrel  ::  hometown – Anderson, Ind.  ::  law professor  ::  five words –  intelligent, pugnacious, caring, diligent, handsome

Sophia  ::  9 years old  ::  9.29.03  ::  five words –   ebullient, studious, messy, affectionate, writer

Iris  ::  7 years old  ::  6.9.06  ::  five words –  curious, energetic, observant, creative, nature-lover

Your perfect Saturday  ::   A perfect day in our family would begin with homemade waffles and crispy bacon, an outing to the art museum or a walk through the woods, lunch at our favorite Indian restaurant, and some reading time for all. We’d wrap it up with either a casual grill-out with friends or movie night at home with popcorn. And not that microwaveable crap. The real kind made on the stove with actual butter.

While I was shooting a few images of mom and dad, I looked over and saw this happening. 😀Mike said to me… “are you ready?!”

“Uhmmm… for what… ?”

“Are you ready???”

“Uhm… yeah, I guess so.”

Then this

It seems that Darrel was just as shocked as I was! 😀 Speaking of… look at Sophia and Darrel’s face? Same // Same!  Oh how I love families and genetics. 🙂

[br] [br]It was a true delight and an honor to photograph your family. Thank you. 🙂

You’re going to love this couple, I guarantee it!
…making sure his eyebrows look jusssst perrrrrfect…
The groooooomsmen. 😀Their first sight was so damn sweet!Crazy things fly outta my mouth when I’m shooting… and I neverrrr remember what I say to get these kinds of reactions. Does anyone there remember? Clearly a zinger! 😉 My favorite thing about it? The guy in the back left all hunched over. 😀 That’s exaaaactly what happens to me when I hear something that seriously cracks me up… like my abs can’t hold up my head and I nearly fall over. You and me… same // same. I mean, other than the fact that you’re 7′ tall and thin and I’m closer to 5′ and well…. not thin. 😉I always have this inner struggle (as with many photographers) while processing images shot in dark rooms with very warm fluorescent lights… do I keep the image warm or do I remove some of the red from the skin tones? But in the end I always remind myself that it’s important for the images look like what we remember seeing. You know… what the room felt like. Does that make sense?Bobby, the best man. 🙂YOU’RE MARRRRRRIED!!!!!!I don’t often post family photos to the blog… but I’d like to take this opportunity to remind our future brides that not all formal pics need to be indoors at an alter. 😀That image on the right? Yeah… I teased that on our Facebook business page this week, and it’s my favorite. ❗Audreyalice’s Mom and Grandma made this… it’s full of Grandma’s broaches. Isn’t this cool?!
I love how happy you two make each other. 🙂These Ball jars were everywhere around their reception… it was only fitting for me to photograph the rings there.I know exactly how you feel little dude! 😀Mike’s favorite ❓Your people are our kind of people! Fun, eccentric, the real deal! 😀

[br]What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Audreyalice:  Our first look. I will never, ever forget seeing all of my own happiness, excitement and love reflected in Paul’s eyes when he turned around to see me in my wedding dress. I am so glad that we were able to spend a few moments together to collect ourselves and take each other in before we started the rest of our marathon night.

Paul: Seeing Audreyalice coming down the aisle. Her timing coincided with a great passage in the music, I can only describe the moment as perfect.

[br] Any advice for future bride/grooms?

Audreyalice:  I know a lot of couples will tell you to hire Bobbi+Mike. I agree, but I will expand that to hire professional vendors across the board. Our vendors were phenomenal and made everything go so smoothly for us all day long. To us, the peace of mind of knowing that everything would be done correctly was TOTALLY worth a little extra money.

Paul: Take time to enjoy the small aspects of your wedding, its easy to get swept up in all the excitement. We had a candy bar at our wedding, and 4 weeks later we’re just now trying the candy.

[br]Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Audreyalice:  We nailed shut a wine box “time capsule” to be opened on our 10th anniversary during our ceremony. I had been toting a hammer around for weeks in my wedding bag, so I didn’t think anything of it, but all of our guests cracked up laughing when I unexpectedly picked up a hammer and turned toward Paul in the middle of our ceremony!

Paul:  Our attempt to cut our cake. We had cupcakes for our guests and a giant one for us to do our cake cutting. Our wedding coordinator made it look awesome by elevating it on a pedestal. When we went to cut it however, we could barely get through the layers of icing and cake and nearly knocked the whole display over. We eventually got through it unscathed and can laugh about it.

[br]If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Audreyalice:  Not a thing!

Paul: Nothing at all.

[br]Where did you go on your honeymoon?

A cruise to Alaska!

[br] [br] [br] [br]Oh hey look, “Bobbi Bendy Face” made an appearance at their wedding. 🙂 This face I’m making? How do I even know how to make these faces?! Boy oh boy am I hard to photograph candidly! Furthermore, why am I even posting this ugly face to my blog?! I’m much more beautiful than this image portrays! Or at least I hope so!Nothing like having a loving moment in the midst of your mom and I with our hands on your booty. 😉Where’s Waldo?! 😀

[br] [br] [br]Much love friends!

Nick  ::  Registered Nurse  •  Hometown  •  Merrillville, Ind.  ::   five words  •  Charming, Sweet, Witty, Loving, Super Hero

How they met, as told by Divina  ::  We were introduced through my MOH ironically, a group of us met out to go see a movie (Ice Age – Animated movies are really the only way to go).  Nick asked to see my phone, which was the latest, most popular color screen flip phone.  I, trying to be polite complied and this is where I should have known i’d be stuck with him for a long, long time.  As he handed it back, he said “Just so you know, I called myself from your phone so I have your number and I also programmed my number into your phone.”  At this time, quite strange – however, it lead to an awesome friendship that led us to where we are today.  Getting hitched!
