OHHHHHHHH HOW I’VE BEEN SO RIDICULOUSLY EXCITED TO SHOW YOU THIS AMAZINGNESS!!!!!!! This was one of my favorite sessions… ever. Yeah, that’s kind of a big deal. πŸ˜€ Maxine and Harold are SO full of love and excitement that photographing them had me on a high for days. I know I gave a spoiler on Monday but… regardless… you’re about to see why. πŸ˜€

Yes yes yes, a morning session… watching the sun come up while prancing through the fog. Does it GET any better than this?! ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! My view.

Mike’s view. Oh, hi sweet couple… thanks for being awesome. πŸ™‚

A side note about AM sessions… would you believe that all but two of our sessions this summer happened at sunrise?! Do we have the best clients or what?! Though… most have suggested it themselves. It’s REALLY not been a hard sell. With the crazy heat this summer… it’s been awesome. The light’s amazing, the apparent temperature (ie heat index) is usually 30Β° cooler (WOW TO THAT!) and… it’s check marked… you’re free to enjoy the rest of your day πŸ˜€

WACKY BOBBI STRIKES AGAIN!!!! πŸ™‚

HELLOOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL Maxine!

THENNNNNN…. it happened πŸ˜€ What Harold, Mike and I had been planning for months πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

You see, back in March we received an email from Harold. In that email he wrote,

“I have a crazy idea. My girlfriend and I are wedding photographers in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I want to get engaged. This is where you come in. We are planning on launching a brand spankin’ new website/blog later this summer and are going to need some photos of us for it. Because we know we want to get engaged ‘soon’ this photoshoot would also be a good excuse to get engagement photos done.Β  The catch? I want to propose during the shoot, and thus she CAN NOT FIND OUT! This is going to take a lot of work but I really hope you guys are in!”

And THAT was when the planning started πŸ˜€

Harold and I were brainstorming on how we could make the actualΒ  proposal moment completely unexpected… and here was what we came up with. πŸ™‚ I’d wait until the light and setting were perfect… place them about 6′ facing away from each other… when I say “go” turn around and say the first thing that comes to mind. I told Harold that he could do this as many times as he needed to get himself prepared for the big moment. He did it twice… then BAM on the third spin he turns around slides down to one knee and with the BIGGEST most genuine smile I’ve ever seen… “will you marry me?” Maxine’s reaction… “WHAT?!” She was absolutely SHOCKED! From what I gathered later… Maxine is nearly impossible to surprise so the fact that he pulled this off was just awesome. I guess Harold had been saying things like, “You know… I’m in no hurry to get married…” which completely threw her off. πŸ˜€ So when he popped down to one knee… she didn’t expect it… not even 1%!

So, he asked her again… “Will you marry me?” Maxine walked closer… too shocked for words. Her body language was full of excitement and screaming YES YES YES!!!! Still… too shocked for words.

THENNNN…. “yes…”

“…yes, YES, YESSSS!!!!! I WILL MARRY YOU!!!!”

It was perfect in every way… EVERY way!!!!!! Harold, you get SO many bonus points for this move. One of the best engagement stories I’ve heard. πŸ˜€ Photographers getting their ACTUAL engagement photographed?! Harold, this was absolutely PERFECT! Man oh man… now I’m full of chills…Β

Then it was time to continue the session. MAN OH MAN my heart was still racing! When I sat them down in this field I could finally let out my excitement…. “YOU’RE GETTING MARRRRRRIED!!!!!! AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!” Here was her response πŸ™‚

Then an outfit change and a quick drive where we found this πŸ˜€Β

SO badass! πŸ™‚

“Uhmmmm… so…. these white tubie things…. uhmmm… think you could get inside?” Though it was a weeee bit difficult getting in… look how cool the shot is. πŸ™‚ I’m kind of in love with it…

Something about this reminds me of John and Yoko…Β

Then one more outfit change. πŸ™‚ Our last location was a book store. When we first arrived it was closed… so we walked around it and found some fun little spots.Β

“in every season… believe”

I love how much you love her.

These two love to read. Maxine is actually a creative writing major at Grand Valley State University… so this was THE most perfect spot to finish the session. As a matter of fact… Maxine was kind of in heaven… she became so immersed in the books that she nearly forgot she was getting her photo taken. “Maxine… focus!” She was SO dang cute.

HOT TAMALES!

Nothing wrong with a little snuggling in the aisles, right?! PS. fluorescent lights rock my world. JUSSSSST kidding!

We’re in the process of working out the details… but, I’m pretttttty sure that they will grace this blog again in 2011 πŸ˜€ I SOOO cannot wait for that! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Harold, thank you for trusting in us to photograph such an awesome moment. It’s something I will never ever ever forget. Ever. Such an honor.

Maxine, thank you for being you… just being around you brings me the smiles. I see now why Harold is the happiest guy in the world πŸ™‚

Have fun planning your wedding friends!
