Are you sitting down for this? No really, I’m warning you… SIT DOWN FOR THIS BLOG POST! I have a strict 30 and under blog post image limit that I always seem to break about once a year. Well… the time is now because I just blogged more than twice that with this one!
Erin and I went to high school together. Her brother Brett and I graduated the same year (we were both in marching band and show choir) and Erin was two years younger than us.
Erin and Phil helped get each other ready… you know… just the two of them. In over 300 weddings this was the first time I’d ever seen this and Megan and I were both obsessed with the idea!
I MEAN.. LOOOOK AT HOW DAMN SWEET THIS IS?!??!! Side note: Erin’s cheekbones?! AHHHH!!!!!
The reveal!
How many times in your life have you seen a BRIDE neon light? Yeah, first time for me too.
They are so stinkin’ cute!
When I showed the image with Scout to Erin from the back of my camera… it was the first time she cried all day. I’d have done the same if I were with my hot groom and my beloved MurphyMo.
Erin had a dress change before the ceremony (which was theeeee most beautiful wedding dress I’d ever seen… and that’s sayin’ something!). Here’s Erin’s MOH Jessie helping her take off the first dress.
OHHHH VICKIE HOW I ADORE THEEEEE! As Erin was changing into the most epic dress ever Vickie took a step back to admire her beauty. I noticed this and hopped into position to grab her reaction. She noticed me and OUT CAME THE DRAMATICS! I wonnnnnder where Erin gets it?! 😉
DAT DRESS THO?!
Brett giving his son a pep talk before walking down the aisle.
Those damn cryin’ babies… ammi right Trump?! 😉
Our Lady of Perpetual Help (the cathedra) in Kansas City was EPICLY EPIC!
Phil’s dad Bill. Phil and Bill. Wouldn’t it be fun if Phil had a sister named Jill or a brother named Will? Phil, Bill, Will and Jill. But alas, they’re names are Matt and Mary Alice. What a missed opportunity! 😉
Side note: At first glance Phil doesn’t look like Bill.. but after you stare at someones photos for hours upon hours while working through them you start to notice every thing. Sooo just in case you were wonnnndering… Phil and Bill have the exact same teeth (which you can’t even see in this photo so I don’t even know why I’m sharing this… but I’ve typed too much to go back now!). And now you know.
I love marriage.
My view.
Megan’s view. How we managed to avoid each other in the frame is beyond me! Whatever the case… WE NAILED IT! 😉
AHHHH!!!! EVERRRRY PHOTO WE TOOK OF THEM WAS SOOOO MONEY!!!!! See how much Phil adores her?! YES YES YES OF COURSE YOU DO! BECAUSE IT’S SO INCREDIBLY OBVIOUS!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!!
Phil carried himself like a prince all day. The image below on the right perfectly illustrates it.
We arrive to the reception (Erin & Phil are in the back seat) and I spot a jazz trio across the street in front of a cafe… I flipppppped! We immediately rush over. They can barely hear me because the band is so loud. I yell and point, “JUST DANCE… IN THIS SPOT!” In the midst of their set the trumpet player spontaneously plays Mendelssohn’s The Wedding March. AHHHHH!!!!! One of the highlights of our whole year!
Erin had originally planned on changing back into her original dress before she arrived to the reception. HOWEVERRRRR when I saw her in what she referred to as “my Sound of Music/Maria Von Trapp dress!”
Ummmm… you’re changing out of that amazing dress?! NO NO NO NO! I took one look at her and insisted “I MUSSSST get portraits of you and Phil with you in thaaaaaat dresssss! How about you change after intros?”
Vickie (Erin’s mom) looked at me, grabbed my hand and said, “Ohhhh Bobbi! Bless you!”
BUT OF COURRRRSE I couldn’t post just one “Kansas City I’m so in Love” photo! For those who didn’t already know… KCMO is my home town! 😀
RECEPTION TIIIIIME!
EDDIE!!!!! This guy is one of my favorite people on the planet! We’ve been friends for more than twenty years. You know… come to think of it… I’ve only photographed two weddings of people I went to high school with and he was at both. Sooo now it’s a thing. Eddie, next time you’re invited to an NKCHS alumni wedding, be sure that I’m the photographer, k? K. Thank you!
Could they be any cuter? I’ll answer that. No.
The perfect finale to the perfect day.
behind the scenes
More behind the scenes photos coming soon!
Megan cannot resist The Wobble!
North Kansas City High School alumni! 😀 How fun that I got to be part of a group photo! PS. Don’t mind my rosy cheeks… but I was worrrrrkinnnnng!
Erin and Phil, thank you so much for asking me to be your wedding photographer. I clearly loved every second of your day!
Much love friends!
Bobbi
I’m dead! OH MY GOD!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I LOVE YOU AND MEGAN!
DAAAAAAAAAAAAANG B+M! Ya’ll gooooood. REEEEAL good at this wedding photo stuff. My jaw is on the floor….
My mother apparently DID suggest naming me William Jr. at one point. Dad vetoed it on the grounds that if he was Bill, I’d probably wind up as Billy, and he hated being called Billy, so he wasn’t going to do that to me.
As for Mary Alice, it’s actually a family name (mom’s maternal grandmother was also Mary Alice). I seem to recall that that was always going to be her name, so while Bill / Phil / Will was a possibility (if only briefly WAY back in 1972), there was never going to be a Jill.
Sorry, Bobbi. 🙂
