SUCH a fun dress!

St st st st stunning!!!!

Meanwhile…

Kate’s dad 🙂

We’ve photographed a LOT of weddings in bad weather… but I’m going to have to say that this day was the grossest of the gross. Thickest clouds in the history of mankind. NO sun, rain all day… gray, cold… just plain gross.  We were shooting in Gloomtown, USA. When I asked Kate about going outside… she was a bit reluctant…. I promised we’d keep her dry… she said she trusted me… and boy oh boy are we glad she did!  I LOVE these photos! 😀   So, off to the first parking garage we could find 😀 These bridesmaids were troopers… you can’t tell, even a little bit, that it was FREEEEEZING!

WACKY BOBBI STRIKES AGAIN!

Kate and Chris got married in November in Evansville (different time zone where the sun sets at 4:30. Because they wanted daylight photos, they chose to see each other before the ceremony. Boy oh boy am I glad they did!  Kate, your eyes are the some of the most beautiful blue eyes I’ve ever seen. You’re so pretty 🙂

Mike’s favorite ❓

…totally worth it!

Gettin’ married time! Chris, your reaction to Kate walking down the aisle was pure perfection! Reminded me of Mike on our wedding day 🙂

such a sweet ceremony…

After they said their I do’s we headed into the awesome theater for a few more photos 😀

Are you KIDDING me?! Favorite, duhtown… ❗

Marriage is the coolest.

Bet you’re wondering why they call him that… Lucky for you, I’m going to tell you 😀 But not until you get to the end-ish of the blog entry.  CLIFFHANGER! 😉

We brought our unboxed photobooth with us.  I don’t usually blog photos from it but this one’s a little different.  Here’s Kate with her grandma… she passed away less than two weeks after this photo was taken.  I can’t imagine. Kate and family… sending big hugs your way.

kate+chris

What was the most memorable moment of your day?
kate: definitely the ceremony.  It was the most personal and emotional experience of my life.
chris: My most memorable moment had to be when the music started for Kate to walk down the aisle. Once I heard it, I started to lose it. I couldn’t even keep it together until she got to the aisle.

What was your favorite detail?
kate: Just one??  I loved my dress, the photos on the altar, and the handmade birds that we used to decorate the ceremony and reception.
chris: The sweet photographers we ended up with. 😉 HIGH FIVES FRIEND! 😀

Any advice for future bride/grooms?
kate: make sure you (and your husband-to-be) make the important decisions together. In the end, the day is all about the two of you
chris: For grooms, be quiet and do whatever is necessary to make your bride’s day perfect regardless of what it takes.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?
Mark (the officiant) forgetting our rings. I felt horrible for him but I think it made for a special moment when we exchanged rings with our wedding party watching after the ceremony. It also makes for a great story.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
kate: maybe would have done a rain dance that morning
chris: I can’t think of a single thing that I would change. It was perfect in my eyes.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went to New York and stayed at the Library Hotel. It was amazing!

Saundra… this just might be the the most well composed bride+groom+bobbi+mike shot to date! By the way…While we were able to keep Kate and Chris sheltered from the rain… not so much the case for us. 🙂

BOBBI BRIDES! kate+bobbi+niki. Oh and Niki… thanks for coming down to our level 🙂 (she’s 6′ tall…)

Here’s your answer… THAT’S why they call him that!  One of the best doppelgangers I’ve seen!

Me, doin’ my thing. 😀

Yes I’ve lost weight since I’ve bought this suit so yes, I have saggy ass pants. Please… don’t judge me 😉

The sweetest of the sweet.

❗ + ❓

When we started this healthy train back in April… I promised you, our families, myself and my husband that Mike and we would finally get our photos taken.  It was time to practice what I preach!

You see, I’ve been so insecure with how I look for so long that the idea of getting in front of a camera has driven me to near panic attacks.  So, I just avoided it… and avoided it like the plague!

After making my mom’s book for her 50th birthday back in March, I complained about how few family photos I had growing up. I asked my mom about it, she said… “I just didn’t feel good about myself then Bobbi.” My response… “But Mom! I thought you were beautiful!”

BUT… who am I to complain!? I’m JUST as guilty!

Then, about a month ago when I was trying to make excuses for avoiding it again… Mike put his foot down, “Bobbi, my favorite photos of my parents are from before they had kids… and they have VERY few… we’re getting our photo taken, dammit!”

SOOOO… I started making plans.

I called my friend Stefanie… “can you do it… on a tight timeline? What if I do the editing so that it doesn’t add to your already major to do list?”

Her response, “YES! WE’D BE HONORED!”

I didn’t think about it again until the day before the session.  Why? Because I didn’t want to drive myself crazy.

Though, shopping for clothes when you still don’t feel 100% about great yourself, with a ridiculous amount of pressure for a photo session, and a husband who’s losing patience after 4 hours of my frustration while shopping…. I still drove myself and everyone around me absolutely crazy.

Being on the other side of the camera is a LOT harder than I ever imagined it to be. From the planning to the shopping to the windy/dreary weather to my ridiculous insecurities… MAN OH MAN do I have a WHOLE new respect for our clients.

My conclusion: before getting my photos taken next time, I’m drinking a bottle of wine!

All of that being said, Stefanie and Brock did an amazing job of dealing with my ridiculousness… and we couldn’t be happier with the photos!

These were taken at our favorite parking garage in Indy on the gloomiest of days with crazy wind.

So, here they are… photos by our great friends Stefanie and Brock Childs… processed by me.

Mike’s favorite ❓

My favorite ❗

As cheesy as it sounds… when we take photos of young couples I always look at them through the eyes of their future children/grandchildren.  This time, I’m looking at photos of US through the eyes of OUR potential future children.  I can tell you this, if these were images of my mom and dad and there was a fire in my house… The first thing I’d think to grab was this album.

Stefanie and Brock, we seriously can’t thank you enough for all you did for us that day. Thank you thank you thank you. It’s your turn!

Now, onto some healthy train business!

Our clients often ask us if we photograph rehearsal dinners.  Our answer: while we know it’s a big event in your life… it’s not the best thing to take photos of.  Mostly what happens is sitting and eating… and NO ONE wants photos of themselves eating.

However, when Meredith and Jake were talking about their rehearsal dinner plans… we INSISTED that we photograph it!  Maybe you remember… Jake is kind of a big deal chef. 😀 For his rehearsal dinner, Jake wanted to cook “the meal of his life.” 😀 …it’s a chef thing.

Well, they ended up having the rehearsal dinner on a Thursday and I had previous commitments. I was TOTALLY bummed that I couldn’t make it. 🙁 Mike, on the other hand, didn’t. So, off to Bloomington he went to photograph and eat, what he considered, the most amazing meal he’s ever eaten.

…the last course… dessert!

He finally got to sit down and enjoy some of his amazingness.

…two days later, BADABOOM BADABING… MARRYING MEREDITH!!!!! Okay, that was cheesy… but I’ve been dying to say it! 😀

If ONLY you knew what was so funny 😉 !  However, if you know Julia (on the far right), you know EXACTLY what we were laughing at.  So, if you know… please keep it to yourself 😉

This just miiiiiiight be one of my favorite bridal shots I’ve ever taken. Meredith, you were a STUNNING bride. st-st-STUNNING!

Her relationship with her parents is something that every parent should hope/work for with their children.  I’ve never seen anything like it. Such an amazing family.

Jake said his vows in French while every girl in the room melted into one zillion pieces. Mike, learn French… now. Thank you. SO FREAKING SEXY!

Candy… one of my favorite MOB’s ever. I’ve met a lot… so, high fives to you Momma C!

MARRRRRRIED TO MERRRRRREDITH!!!!!!!! Alright alright… I’ll shush!

Mike’s favorite ❓

The photo on the left… that’s my favorite. ❗

I ADORE YOU TWO! Please, let’s be friends in real life? Please???

Meredith’s mom Candy and stepmom Marsha watching the father/daughter dance. Yeah, told you it was an amazing family.

Last dance of the night. Meredith and Jake, you’re welcome 😉

What was the most memorable moment of your day?
meredith: My most memorable moment was the audiences collective sigh when Jake recieted his vows in French.  The collective sigh was only matched by the one in my heart.  Yeah I said it!
jake: Our last dance was my favorite part.  At the end of everything it was like a celebration of what was to come with my beautiful bride.

What was your favorite detail?
meredith: My favorite detail was the actual vows when my aunt was filmed from Afghanistan to legally marry us because she could not be present.  It was a surprise and I think it made the day really personal.
jake: I loved the focus Meredith and I shared on each other.  That at the end of all of it, it was just me and her.

Any advice for future bride/grooms?
meredith: HIRE BOBBI AND MIKE!  I don’t care what you have to do!  Nobody remembers your ornate flower arrangements or your truffled jordan almonds but I promise you they will remember how they feel when they see their memories truly captured in an image forever.  That is my only advice …  ever.  I adore you Meredith, thank you.
jake: Stop and smell your own flowers it goes by so fast.  Try to remember all of the little things and never try to cater your own wedding unless you have a culinary death wish

Funniest memory from your wedding day?
meredith: All I would say is if those Bridal Suites could talk they would ask Julia and Bobbi to leave but I would tell those walls to shut their proverbial mouths. HAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!!
jake: That it took seven people to contain me in a room to not take a peek of Meredith.  It literally took seven people holding on to my coat tails not to look when they were outside taking pictures.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
meredith: I wish I could have spent more time with my bridesmaids and other guests I didn’t get to see much of.
jake: No because at the end of the day I got to take her home.  The worst thing in the world could have happened and I still wouldn’t change anything.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Jamaica mon!  We climbed everything that wasn’t tied down and touched everything under the ocean and ate everything under the sun.  Go all inclusive for your honeymoon!

I’m sorry that you’re so tall and I’m so short that I have to snuggle with your bosoms when we get a photo taken together. Oh well, life could be MUCH worse! 😀

Meredith and Jake, you two are one in a zillion. I adore you, your hilarious friends, and your amazing families. BOOOOYAH!

LOVE TO YOUS!!!!!

PS. so… when do we get to hang out next?

I don’t remember what was happening here… but doesn’t it look intense?!

:::::EDITED TO ADD:::::

How could I have forgotten these two?! These are moments rarely captured! Mike stepped into “girls getting ready room” for just a few minutes to make sure things were running on time and found me doing this 🙂 Though my primary job is always to be the photographer… sometimes, after I capture  the moment, I put my camera down for just a minute and help the bride get ready.  Here, I’m tying an OH SO perfect bow on the back of Meredith’s dress. 🙂  I look like a mutant mini photographer that’s getting a spanking!

Here we’re discussing perfect veil placement. Why I’m fluffing my hair is beyond me! :::::EDIT OVER:::::

It’s no wonder I’m getting premature wrinkles… look at what I’m doing to my face behind that camera! At least I’m happy!
