I honestly don’t even know how to begin this blog post because there aren’t words that could possibly express my love for this duo, these families, and this day. I have been SOOOO damn excited to share this wedding with you all!
That morning Megan was so excited that she was going to photograph a bride getting ready… because she hasn’t really done that in the last three years (since coming on with me full time). The below photo of Jess was taken by Megan.
Zoë is a Virginia-based wedding photographer herself and has been a huge supporter of my photography for years. I actually met Zoë (along with her mother Andi) in 2009 when I spoke at WPPI (the largest wedding and portrait photography conference in the world). She was 14 years old, a freshman in high school and told me waaaaaay back then that I’d be her wedding photographer some day in the future. Zoë is clearly a woman of her word!
When I walked in to this room to photograph her getting ready that morning, she was so happy that she started crying. Ummmm whaaaaat?! See, told you that this blog post would be hard for me to put into words! Pretty incredible, right?!
Their first look.
When there isn’t much around, I can always count on the top of a parking garage. 😉
See why I’ve been SO excited to share these images with you all?! Of course you do! THESE PEOPLE ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I think I’m one of the only blog writers who writes the captions above the photos. You see, I like to introduce the photos with my captions so that you can read my wit, whimsy, and knowledge before seeing the amazingness. You’re welcome.
From left to right: Jess’ dad, Jess, Jess’ stepdad, Zoë, Zoë’s dad. As a stepmomma myself, I love seeing these beautiful un-conventional family relationships work so beautifully. High fives to co-parenting!
LOVE IS LOVE!
My view.
Megan’s view.
If you look closely you’ll see an actual bag of rice being thrown at them. I think one of their guests didn’t get the “take the rice out of the bag” memo. 😉
Even when there’s a first look I always insist on 10-15 minutes of portrait time following the ceremony.
I was hiding in the bushes like a creeper shooting the first dance.
I mean…. how could you not love this wedding?!
Zoë’s dance face looks exaaaaactly like my dance face!
behind the scenes
Much love friends!
