I first met Cory at a speaking engagement I did in Indianapolis. She introduced herself and said that she had been following this little blog of mine since she was in high school when I photographed her friends senior photos. WHAAAAA??!!?! She told me then, before she was engaged, that Megan and I were going be her wedding photographers. I teared up and gave her a huge hug. Well, Cory is a woman of her word! We are photographing her wedding this September.

I’ve had quite a few of these “following you since high school, and now I’m engaged!” encounters recently which fills up my love tank BIG time. It also makes me realize how old I am! Though, to be fair, I started doing this when I was 24 so I was quite young myself.

This session brought us back to IU, the home of the Hoosiers. It’d been a long while since I photographed an engagement session there and it was just as beautiful as it’s always been!

You can’t do a session at IU and not photograph the Sample Gates!

How they met, as told by Cory

I messaged him first on the dating site OKCupid. Our first date was at the billiards hall at the IMU in Bloomington, IN. When we left the date it was snowing and we both slipped on the stairs at the same time. I remember rolling my eyes and thinking “What is this? A romantic comedy?” Turns out it kind of was!
