For those of you who have never seen this blog… I put myself on a weight loss challenge one month ago. I asked a people to join me… and MUCH to my surprise, SO many people jumped on the healthy train (I’m so dang cheesy!).
Every Friday since Jan 5, I’ve been reporting my weight loss. It’s been INCREDIBLE the amount of support that I’ve received. I didn’t want to let anyone down… ESPECIALLY myself.
This week, I was more motivated than ever. I OFFICIALLY started going to the gym, followed my diet and 🙁 No pounds lost. Now, you guys might remember my blog from last week stating that no pounds lost is no pounds gained. And yes… AAAAAAAMEN! However, I can TOTALLY understand it is a little bit of a bummer to dedicate yourself to something whole heartedly and not be able to report good news…. yeah yeah yeah, I know… practice what I preach…
Now, the drama queen that I am… I called Heather this morning in tears (GIVE ME A BREAK!) when she reminded me that I’ve started going to the gym, I’m probably retaining a bit of water and building muscle so she suggested to take my measurements… OH! What a great idea! Last time I did was on Jan 5th. So… I did it. ANNNNNNNNNNNND… DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!!! I’ve lost SEVEN INCHES!!!!!
In case you’re wondering… in the picture, that’s a Pantone swatch book which is VERY helpful to a graphic designer (and conveniently for me… about 7 inches). My signature is on it because they’re sorta expensive and when I was working in marketing… I was one of the few to have one (OOH LA LA!). I would OFTEN find it randomly on someone else’s desk. What can I say… I’m an only child and I don’t share well. 🙂
ANWAYS… I think that’s GREAT success for a little less than a month worth of working at it. Nine pounds and seven inches GONE! 😀 By the way… that seven inches is off my waist, hips, one thigh, one arm and my bust. So after my drama queen tears this morning… I was back to feeling good about myself. Poor Mikey is dealing with a ROLLER coaster of a wife. (I think I’m going to report my inches lost at the end of every month… if anyone else wants to do that, I 100% encourage it!)
Another factor for this weeks lack of success… I didn’t eat as much. Now, you might be asking, “Well, if you didn’t eat as much… how did you not lose weight!?” For some reason I thought it would be smart to skip what is supposed to be my afternoon snack and after dinner snack… thinking it would help. NO SIRREE! Your body needs food all day so that it continually is burning calories rather than holding on to them thinking that it’s hungry… (at least that’s what Mike told me)… So, this week was QUITE the eye opener! So all of you peeps out there on this healthy train with us, PLEASE keep that in mind! TOOT TOOT!!!
Alright… now back to Heather. We started this weight loss thing on our blogs within three days of each other. So… we’ve BOTH been putting our weight loss on our blogs since Jan 12th. We’ve lost nearly the exact same as each other each week…. and this week… we’re the same… ZERO pounds lost. Weird, huh? She did however report her inches lost… YOU READY FOR THIS?! 12 INCHES!!!!! 😀 YEAHHH!!! This is EXACTLY what we both needed to realize that you’re not going to lose 3 lbs every week… a bit of a reality check. So, go over to her blog and leave some love. 🙂
So, there you have it…

I’m so proud of you!! Keep a positive attitude and just know that next week is right around the corner. Also – 7 inches…my love that is HUGE! keep up the good work betty!
Congrats on 7 inches lost Bobbi! I didn’t report last week- I was in Chicago for my bachelorette party!!! I’m 100% positive that I didn’t lose ANY weight last week, but this week I’m down 1.2 pounds. Keep the pics coming!
Cheryl
Ooh love the pantone swatch book. You and your seven inches rock!
Congrats on the inches lost Bobbi!!!
I have finally come out of denial and am joining your little (well, once little) group. I blogged about it too 🙂
http://bluskydesigns.blogspot.com/2008/02/please-tell-me-im-not-crazy.html
I lost 4 pounds! And blogged about it, too!
Oooh, I like the idea of checking measurements every month! Yes yes yes good idea! I will start doing that! Starting today with my beginning measurements and then checking next month. The toning up should bring some of them down (*cough*thighs*cough*).
I’m going to work out today in about 20 mins or so and that’ll bring it to the goal of 3x/week for me! It is so helpful doing this, Bobbi, because I could never get the proper motivation to keep it up every week until now. NOW, I’m being held accountable! THANK YOUUU!!
Jenny
OH! DUH! ANNND….congrats for losing 7 inches. Bobbi!!
That’s awesome! Yes, go by inches or even how you feel or how something fits. That’s all that matters, not #’s on a scale. (Though I know it’s fun to see them go down.)
BTW, yes, DON’T skip those meals! Your metabolism is like a fire. Feed it all day with twigs, not a big log a couple times a day.
LOVE to you. I’m so happy for you lifestyle change. Have you noticed any difference in your sleeping habits at all once you exercise? Just wondering becuase I konw photographers are known for staying up all night. ; )
CONGRATS!!! What an accomplishment!! I wanted to see if you have had time to check out sparkpeople.com. Its an a-mazing way to track your calories consumed, workout programs, and the amount of calories that you need to burn e/ week inorder to loose your desired weight/inches. I’m sure you already have a program that does this, but if you didn’t I wanted to give you a heads up to a great resource!! =)
Checking in – no pounds gone this week, but the jeans are fitting better so maybe next week! Keep up the inspiration!
1 more pound for me. I seem to be losing sssllllloooooowwwww. =( But 1 pound is still one pound gone. As for the measurements, it’s bad enough knowing how much I weigh! I don’t think I can measure BUT I will say that I was able to tighten my belt!
CONGRATS! 7 inches is awesome!!!!
7 inches….holy cow!!! thats awesome… you should be very proud of yourself… .lost .5lbs this week…checking your inches is a great idea, gonna have to start that = )
Awesome Bobbi!
1 lb. lost but SERIOUS cardio improvement! I have moved up to 45 minutes on the treadmill. I started using a heart monitor and it keeps me moving at a specific pace…otherwise it beeps at me. The beep is really obnoxious:(
WOW!!!! 7 inches is awesome…. me only a pound and I’m too scared to measure at the moment… LOL… maybe tomorrow!
Yes, yes, yes!!! You are so right about it all! I’m a “Biggest Loser” fanatic and I’ve learned that too little food does you NO GOOD, that sometimes your body is losing inches but gaining muscle so no pounds are “lost” on the scale but you are still succeeding…so you are not only losing pounds and inches, but you are learning and growing and staying motivated and excited through a terribly draining process!!!! GOOD FOR YOU!!!!
This is my third week and I’ve been averaging a 1/2 pound per week, so I was SO EXCITED to have a 2.5 pound weight loss this week!!!! Yea! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Bobbi, I know I didn’t write in last week but I’m still in it to win it 🙂 I’ve just been slacking. Seriously. I’m still in!
Congrats on the inches lost. I should try that.
I’m in the game now. 5 lbs this week. I’m getting my hair cut next week so that should be at least a quarter of a pound! I’m counting it!
You go Bobbi! That is awesome! You are gonna be even more of a stunner than you already are! 🙂
yea!!!
This is awesome GO BOBBI!!!!
Cheerio

Congrats! I really need to figure out how to measure myself at school, cause I’m not liking my scale…haha. I do need to weigh myself when I go home Sunday. I’ll let you know then!
ok, not sure if I’m the April that you’re referring to up there or not, but if so, I’ve lost 2 pounds. yea, me!
The gym will throw your body another curve – so give it some time and it will catch back up! I too have the same problem – the more I workout sometimes the less weight I lose – I believe it has to do with your body rebuilding its broken down muscles. If you find that it doesn’t get better talk to a trainer who can help make your workouts most effective for you! Also – I use a heart rate monitor – helps ALOT – especially if you are looking to stay in a certain zone. Keep truckin’! Luv – Suz
Zero lbs to report.
Momba
I had my weigh-in this morning, add another -2.8 pounds to our tally!! While it’s not the huge loss I was looking for (since I skipped my weigh-in last week) I can say that it’s pretty darn good considering that last week I was PMSing and wanted to eat everything in site and almost did. 🙂
I also had my measurements taken and I can’t remember the total but I’ve got 2 inches off my waist and that’s my biggest problem area so I’m psyched about that!
Have a great week everyone!!
weight loss wars..yeah!
i’m down another 2lbs.
that’s a total of 7 for me. it’s slow going, but at least it’s going.
congratulations, bobbi! i started doing ww the first or second week of january because my housemate was doing it…i’ve lost about 6lbs…and, glory of glories…still eaten ice cream pretty much every day. HECK YES!
also…i am shooting a wedding in indy in june, and i REALLY want to meet you this time! i think i’ll be around for a week, so…we should try to make somethin’ happen. mkay? awesome.
Congrats on the 7 inches!!! WHOOOO HOOO! Okay my report is….none lost and none gained. I kinda fell off the wagon a bit this week. I only ran one day. However as of today (Sunday that is) I’m back at it. I went out for a 5mile run this morning and I FEEL GREAT!!!!!!!!! This week I plan to run a total of 15 miles and weight train every other day. I’m also going to focus more on what I’m eating (or not eating that is)
So have you been cooking w/ ground turkey??? it’s the best substitute ever. Put it in anything (okay maybe not your cereal) Tacos, lasagna, chilli, Turkey burgers. My other discovery is that Daisy Brand low fat Sour cream is the best on the market. Doesn’t taste like lowfat to me 🙂 (I LOOOOOOVE SOUR CREAM) A yummy salty snack…. wrap some sliced turkey around a dill pickle.
Keep up the good work girl! 🙂
Add me to the list!! I’ve been on the weight-loss bandwagon for a couple weeks now. I don’t own scales though, so I don’t know how much (or little) I’ve lost. I can report that my work pants fit a little better and I’m finding it easier to make it through the day without a nap. I’ll be buying scales tomorrow so I can report weightloss. Thanks for giving me a place to be accountable. So easy to cheat when there is one one to report to! And congrats on the 7 inches. That’s amazing progress ~ keep up the GREAT work!
Congrats! Cool little image too. How’d you take it (background)?

These threads are worthless without “real” pictures! 🙂 hahaha…
Okay, so I’m a week late, but…
*drumroll….*
SIX POUNDS.
Okay, so that was in 2 weeks…unless you realize that I didn’t report my weight last week because I’d gained 3 pounds! Which means that this week I lost all 3 of those, plus 3 more!
It was a painful week without ice cream, but those SIX AMAZING POUNDS GONE makes life sweeter than the ice cream ever could.
…well…at least that’s what I tell myself when I keep driving past Dairy Queen…;)
Okay, it;s Feb 8th and i cannot wait to see how you have done!! I am also anxious to see the group total..I am sure it will be AWESOME! I love this group participation format….highly motivational for me. Good week for me, a 2 lb loss for a total of 6 lbs.
How did I miss this healthy train?! Man, I’m so inspired now!!! Keep up the great work! Woot, woot!
well, i am in the same boat. no pounds lost. im hitting the gym, but i have not changed my portion size and i know that that is my hardest thing to change.
that said, normally one does not lose weight, one GAINS weight when we first hit the gym. you are building muscle, and that weighs more than fat. if you lost five pounds the first week, you would know it was just water, and if you gain soon, you either are gaining muscle, or there is a culprit. maybe a habit you have that you had NO idea would cause weight gain (flavored water springs to mind).
so, how could i join this challenge? i think its great what you have going.
