Last month we shot an intimate wedding with no wedding party and 50 guests. And it was the sweetest. 🙂

I love when a bride gets ready in a room with big windows!  The color and dimension works mucho better with natural light photography. Jussssst sayin’. 🙂
01_ricksboatyard_bobbimike_14I adooooored Kelly’s mom!

[br]What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Kelly:    If I had to narrow down to one, it would probably be my father’s toast.  He traveled a lot for work when I was in elementary school, and I collected trolls at that time.  (Embarrassing, I know!).  I would lend him a particular blue one whenever he went on a trip to serve as a reminder that I was always with him.  Since then, I had not though about or seen the troll in almost 20 years.  Towards the end of his speech, he pulled it out of his jacket.  That definitely tugged my heart!

[br] Any advice for future bride/grooms?

Kelly:  1) Make sure your photographers not only capture amazing pictures but also wear many hats during your wedding: comedian, meteorologist, timekeeper, bustle-extraordinaire, etc. Bobbi and Mike were lifesavers and really shaped our day for the better. Best wedding investment, hands down!   2) Don’t lose sleep over the details because 90% of them will go unnoticed and/or your guests will quickly forget after the wedding. What people will remember are the big moments, witnessing your love, and being around great company.

Mike:  Have a small wedding.  We thought we would have so much more time to talk to guests when there were only forty of them and that everything would run a lot more smoothly.  While the day turned out wonderful, we still felt rushed at times and wished we would have been able to spend more time speaking personally with each of our guests.  I can’t imagine how hectic it would have been if we had four hundred guests!

[br]Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Kelly:   In the midst of our ceremony, there was brief whispering among our officiant, Mike, and me.  (Let’s just say we almost got her to talk about wuv…tru wuv!).

Mike:   Instead of the traditional wedding cake, we decided to have mini cupcakes.  While serving them to each other, Kelly gave me a hard time that I forgot to remove the liner from her cupcake.  However, she had yet to realize that she had not removed the liner from mine as well.

[br]If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Kelly:  Wished we could have enjoyed our meal.  Our food lineup was awesome, and I barely had time to eat any of it! 🙁

[br]Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Jade Mountain in St. Lucia.  It was a trip of a lifetime and highly recommend going!!!

Testing the light with THAT hot tamale model. BOOM! SO FIIIIINE! On the right… Kelly’s dad and I discussing the family photos. 🙂
